Advanced Therapeutic Massage
- Othopedic and Therapeutic Massage: I employ a comprehensive and multidisciplinary soft-tissue approach to body pain and tension. A pain in the neck is in the neck, of course; and the roots may well be elsewhere. Effective treatment relies on applications of massage techniques that fit the therapeutic needs of the pain or injury as well as the whole person. For treating pain and injuries it is very helpful that the client, you, understand the healing process of the body and the type of pain or injury. Knowing “when”and "how" to apply massage is part of quality treatment; and I critically think about your unique representation of health and then offer an educational, movement and touch therapy process. I work well with your other healthcare providers as well as have wonderful referrals if you need other approaches to recovery and rehabilitation for your specific and unique need. For example, many people develop 'hip pain', and each one has their own way of how they manifested that pain, engage with this pain and, eventually, let go of this pain. The intake process for bodywork is more comprehensive than for relaxation Swedish massage; and often comfortable clothes remain on, unless needing access for scar tissue or superficial lymphatic healing.
- Fascial Counterstrain I am undertaking a mastery program in Fascial Counterstrain; an evolutionary approach to gentle precise bodywork that is able to clear dysfunction system by system by system.
- "One of the main advantages to Strain and Counterstrain is that it is an “indirect” or pain free manual therapy technique. This means that you place patients into positions of ease and comfort instead of stretching them into pain and restriction. Also, Counterstrain’s ability to reduce overactive stretch reflexes gives the technique excellent “carry over” or permanency. In essence, with this technique, the body corrects itself instead of being “forced” into a correction.
- The muscular or musculoskeletal form of Counterstrain is targeted directly to the muscles of the human body and thus has many clinical applications. Post-operative muscle spasm, tension headaches, low back pain, neck pain, tennis elbow and sprained ankles are just a few examples of conditions that respond to this form of Strain and Counterstrain technique. - Qigong (Ki Gong) Form Free: Principles embodiment and movement training for strength, flexibility, balance, postural awareness and re-patterning and authentic personal growth and states of consciousness exploration. This is a practice that lies somewhere between yoga and Tai Chi, the somatic education of Alexander (TM) and Feldenkrais (TM) techniques.

- Lymphatic Massage, Stages I and II: for post surgery recovery, postpartum and pregnancy, and general skin and immune support.
- Abdominal Massage: For everything pertaining to the belly and organs (viscera). Very powerful and often a component in in common aches and pains in the head, neck, back, ribs, shoulders, hips and even hands and feet. Also helpful with sinus congestion.
- Pelvic Bowl and Hips Massage - Physical tools and energetic approaches for internal and external attention to our sacred bowl that can relieve the below items and allow reconnection and strength and empowerment to the root and sacral centers of our being. Often Internal care is not required to balance our pelvic bowl, hips, belly and thighs. However, it may be indicated at least to explore when other approaches are not working. Breathing well, or a diaphragm that is able to do its job, is crucial for moving lymph and energies through the body and coordinates with the pelvic floor. Helps with TMJ syndrome, post dental work tension, emotional stress tension, ear and eye area pain, and other tensions held in the tissues of our head.
